Sitting at my desk, a lady approached me. Her short white hair waving through the wind from her walk. She came up to me, extending a broad smile, asking where she might find the earliest  open physician. Realizing that she has been the first person I've to talk to since I started my 12 hour shift, I introduced myself.

I watched her face, her eyes catching a glimmer of sudden intrigue and her eyebrows in high arches.

"Who has the other half?" she said referring to my necklace as she tried to hide a smirk. I remember a gold chain with a matching charm, dented at the bottom point of the heart hanging around my neck.

Her eyes shining and her expecting smile waiting for a name that might carry significance, a name that encapsulated long-desired lover and best friend. Someone I would have been dating for months or years. A person that I would say the name of in the expectation that I could share memories of an awkward first kiss and an incredible first date. A man that I could share a picture of with his arm around my waist and my head tilted looking up at his face. Gitty, at the thought of who might be the man that must have given me this necklace. A man that I have been waiting for. A man, who believed I was worth the risk and chose me-- and continues to choose me every. Single. Day.

"My sister" I said looking down, sparing myself the disappointment that must have projected onto her face. I look back up at her, greeted by a reaction that expressed how sweet it must be knowing that two sisters are currently wearing matching half-heart necklaces. She responses with a sweet smile, kind and reassuring.

"Oh, how cute" she said softly, "Thank you so much for your help. I hope you have a fantastic day!"

"Thank you, " I said going back to writing the fictional short stories I distract my mind with.

My First Summer In Redding

Sunday, June 25, 2017

Some of my homies here in Redding. #Summer

I find myself sitting at a coffee shop, which is the next big thing to do while in Redding (LOL), but after two full months living in a city (a.k.a. village), which is about three hours away from anything, I can't help but enjoy this time that I have away from the familiar.

Don't get me wrong I miss the brisk mornings, the fast-pace community, and the unending diversity that a cluster of cities like the Bay Area offers. I miss my family, eating homemade food, and waking up to smells that remind me of comfort and home

If you haven't picked up on the title of this blogpost, this is my first summer away from home (Da Bay). I got a job working on campus cleaning the buildings and resident halls of Simpson University along with nine other students and this whole experience has been a constant learning process. A learning process, not only in the job itself, but practically living on my own without the constant worry of deadlines, classes, and exams, which has been a main attachment that I have with Redding.

These past two months have consisted of getting acquainted with the whether, not knowing what to do in a city that doesn't get cool until 9:00PM-- even then it's still 98 degrees outside and I'm in bed by 9:30PM (because I have to be up by 6:00AM the following morning)-- and trying to stay on a budget. Sure, this may not seem like qualifications in which should be difficult to get adjusted to, but they are conditions in which I'm not familiar with.

If you are at all aware with the geographic location of Redding, California, then you know how insanely hot it gets over the summer and for those that actually live here in Redding: you have my utmost respect and gratitude because I do not know how you guys do it. Redding has reached a high of 112 Degrees Fahrenheit and let me tell you, that I have not sweated as much as I have just standing outside. Even though, my job here at Simpson allows us to stay indoors for majority of the time, which I am so thankful for, but there are moments when we have clean outside of the building (mostly windows) and I feel like I'm in a sauna. *Slowly dies inside* There are other students here doing other things around campus, such as the Grounds Crew, and they have it hard. Their whole job is working outside in the heat mowing, cutting, pruning-- just about everything and I pray for their souls. Needless to say, they are the real MVP's!

As for doing things in Redding, the church community here is absolutely phenomenal. I attend Bethel church and I am in love with everything the church has to offer: the worship, messages, and people that I get to meet. But since the beginning of my summer break, God has put on my heart a deep desire for a sense of community. Not only with the community that I have with my co-workers and other friends that are staying in the Redding area, but wanting to be a part of a church body. Because Bethel is such a big church, it's hard finding that source of utilizing where God wants to use me in such big place. Before Bethel, I've attended other churches in the area, such as The Stirring Church and Haven, which is a young adult service at Little Country Church. So my first step was to get reconnected and see if God has anything for me there.

So, I began attending The Stirring in the mornings and Haven at night, encouraged and excited to experience what God wants for me, which also has been a learning process. Because of this, I'm not going to stop attending Bethel church completely (they have a Friday night service that I plan on attending as well (LOL)).

While living on my own, I really want to take care of myself, which constituted watching what I ate and exercising often. For the past month, I've been going to the gym right after work and cooking more instead of eating out. Out of the two, I never know cooking would be SO HARD!!

Now with two months into figuring out Redding (more or less), I know God's not done with with me in this place. With one more semester to finish in my undergrad career, God's never going to take me out of school. Overall, I miss home deeply, but I think God is teaching me to find home wherever I am because He is home.

Watching "The Flash"

Friday, January 6, 2017

I believe that there are about four other blogs (give or take) that have been inspired by things in which my little sister has introduced to me, things such as music, books, and movies and this blog is no exception.

During my winter break, I had planned to read countless (Okay, maybe more specifically three) books, run rampant in the streets of the City (more like get lost and find myself in unplanned adventures that awaited me), and watch all the movies I missed out on. Sure there's still a little less than a week until I have to go back to school and I may not have done a sprinkle of what I had hoped to do during my winter break, but the best things happen unplanned. One of those best things being that I watched 2 seasons of The Flash on Netflix, which I have become a fan of!! Although this entire post may be about watching The Flash, my winter break has not been limited to this activity exclusively.

My little sister, Cristina had a t.v. show playing in the living room during the first week of our winter break and I didn't pay much attention to it until she started explaining the plot line to me. When I decided that I wanted to watch the show for myself, she insisted that she watch the entire show with me from the beginning. So, we embarked on a journey together in which consisted of heavy scientific concepts, clever fan references, and standing-by-the-end-of-each-episode. Now, I sit here on the couch in my living room a couple of hours after finishing Season 2 of  The Flash and trying to process all that has happened.

I really hope you consider on watching the show for yourself because this show is truly amazing! Each character is brought to life creating a distinctive personality. The nerd references (No offense, I am a proud nerd) are on point! But, of course, if you ever do watch The Flash, go in with VERY low expectations because I wouldn't want to contribute to you going in with very high expectations and not really enjoying it (which will NOT happen regardless). So, if you do start watching it, I may have started talking about some of the key components that happen in the show later on in this blogpost. So, I sectioned off the part in which is **spoiler-filled** and you can skip down to where it's safe to continue reading. But if you are past Season 2-- by all means, continue reading.

**SPOILER ALERT**

I would like to think that I was able to follow along with the majority of the scientific theories that were proposed/ happened on the show--my foundation being that I am a big Back to the Future fan and I've practically studied the films in which I believe that I have a good idea of how time works. And because of that, I HAVE SO MANY QUESTIONS!! For example, when the reverse flash disappears from existence because Officer Eddie killed himself, shouldn't everything have gone back to normal, as if Barry's mother hadn't died? I guess that issue is address later in the season when the Reverse Flash comes back, but has no idea of what has already happened and, if I remember correctly, Eddie's action of killing himself hasn't taken action because the Reverse Flash is on a separate timeline. PLEASE, correct me if I'm wrong and if you can, explain this to me! BUT!!! The season finale for season 2--- That ALL does not matter anymore! I have yet to watch season 3 and it's killing me! There was a whole bunch of other questions that I had throughout the show, but I can't remember them, which I might just rewatch the entire first and second season-- to make sure that I didn't miss anything!

But, nonetheless, I am very excited on how the season 3 will begin! And for those who have waited week after week for the next episode to air on tv, I salute you.

**END OF SPOILER**

If you're in the mood to watch a superhero show with science fiction, love and hate relationships with the characters, surprises, controversy, and intrigue, then The Flash is for you! But, highkey, you should decide for yourself and if you do decide to watch it, I promise you won't be disappointed.

Senior Year-- An Update

Wednesday, December 28, 2016

For those of you who know me and would like some light on what I've been doing lately, thank you, and if you're new and happened to stumble upon this post, thank you to you, too! So above all, thank YOU for reading this!

If you do not know already, I'm currently in my Senior year and on winter break! And I have been thinking about some of the struggles I faced during the semester, which have been crazy! Finals were insane and I only had to do two all-nighters this semester, which may or may not have lowered my validation as a college student, but you be the judge of that. With all the papers, midterms, and other extra curricular activities in which I tried to keep up with, I remember the week of finals and having to write a five page paper, a presentation, and three reading assignments/ worksheets, that were all due within three days. That may not sound like a lot-- even as an English major-- but I started to feel its weight. The texts that we were required to read are heavy in content and take a lot of time to do. I don't mean to come off as whiny, but the stress was REAL. For a visual illustration, this is how my semester felt on most days:

Displaying FullSizeRender.jpg

Instead of specifically "Sundays," the above illustration has been me throughout the majority of the semester-- unfortunately. Now, college was not going to be easy and as I continue to think about some of the things that I could have done differently this past semester, I know it will be different for the upcoming Spring semester. I hope all-nighters are the thing of the past and I will at the same time, get to watch The Flash, while I'm still at school. (Lowkey, I'm on Season 2, episode 2 on Netflix, for The Flash, and it's getting crazy good, but I do have SO MANY QUESTIONS, which I am very confused about. I like to think that I have-- SPOILER ALERT-- time travel and the idea of it down, which is why all of these questions are coming to mind. But my little sister, who was the one that got me hooked onto the show, says that I should keep watching and that all of my questions will be answered. *Cries from the frustration* BUT I am loving the show! #HighlyRecommend)

Anyway, I look forward to this new semester and new year! (AND watching more of The Flash.)

Using This Chance to Write

I think one of the main reasons that I haven't posted a while on this blog is because of that reason; I haven't posted on my own blog for a long time. No matter how much I wanted to post on this blog, I felt like it was something that I had to do, but that's what I really want to stay away from. I've expressed before that writing is something that I love doing, so much so that I majored in it. I figured that part of the reason that kept me from posting anything was that I didn't want to face the idea that I hadn't posted in a while, which resulted in more or less some sense of procrastination. But I couldn't stop thinking about writing. So, here I am on my Winter Break, just writing and thank you, reader, for reading this as I allow myself to splurge on something that I have no idea what will become of it. How exciting!

In the time that I've been going to college and writing countless papers, one of the best ways to start a paper is to start writing. I think that's a technique in which I'm doing now. I realize that the last time I've posted anything was a month and a half ago and I want to change that. I want to try posting more often, more than I did within this past year. There might be posts like this where I have no idea what I'll be writing about, but it would most likely be of things that have sparked my interest or what I may be doing at the moment. And at this moment, I'm on Winter Break, which means that I have a lot of time on my hands, which is almost overwhelming. Within only a week ago, I've been so busy with finals, projects, and papers that the amount of free time I have on my hands, now, makes my mind race on all the things I can and want to do.

Have you ever had to do so many things that time seems to be fighting against you and don't know where to start, so you take a nap, instead? (I may or may not have done that (LOL!)) Well, that's my current dilemma, but instead of naps, I've been trying to regulate my sleep schedule to "normal." Being at school, I wouldn't get to sleep until 1:00AM--if I'm lucky! Nonetheless, with the amount of free time I want to go binge watch on t.v. shows on Netflix, spend hours getting lost in a city, immerse myself in culture (I have a lot of catching up to do), go to the movies, hangout with my hometown friends, and go for a run on my favorite route (the list doesn't stop there!). I currently think that I have been able to perform these tasks with my family!

One in particular has been a t.v. show on the CW called, The Flash, which I have started on Netflix and IT'S SO GOOD!! As of many of the things that I begin to fangirl about, my little sister, Cristina introduced me to the show and I've been trying to catch up with her and--OMG!!--where have I been all this time! The show is incredible, the cast is remarkable, and the writing is legit! Of course, if I've persuaded you enough to watch it yourself, forget everything I said about it just so that you don't go in with high expectations!

I've also have gone to so many places in the Bay Area that if I had to go back to school tomorrow, I'd feel content on m fair share of city life... Okay, maybe I haven't met my full quota, but it has been a lot so far. Besides getting to spend a lot of time with my family, I'm using part of my free time reflecting on the past semester and year. All that comes to mind is: it has been tough. Despite the difficulty that has come with this year, which has been mentally, emotionally, physically, and spiritually challenging, I didn't go through it alone. I have an amazing support group that has cried with me, laughed with me, and struggled with me, yet has remained to be a community of encouragement. So, I look forward to the new year and semester as an opportunity to do things differently and create more often, even if it means writing a blogpost with no idea of how it's going to end.

Thank you for reading!

I Miss Writing and Reading

Saturday, October 29, 2016

As some of you may know, I am currently in my fourth year of university and socially, it's been amazing! My main friend group is legit and encouraging, not only have we been able to continue to experience this journey together, but we've  also been able to make new friends, who are just so funny and interesting. It's so cool to experience the many personalities that God has created, which has been such a blessing!

Spiritually, within these past couple of weeks, I feel that God continues to wreck me, teaching me something new and profound. Many of my weekends/weeks consist of worship, listening/attending sermons, and dwelling in an atmosphere of community and fellowship, which is SO GOOD!!! I am absolutely loving it!

Academically, not so much. I'm not saying that I haven't prayed about my work or the things I'm learning in the classroom; I'm saying I'm just not enjoying the work.

Granted, I love to learn and the material is interesting and challenging, but I can't find myself to completely dedicate my mind to it fully. I find myself distracted or unmotivated-- unwilling to take the time to sit and read or write about the ideas/concepts discussed in the written work.

Now from the title of this blog post, you may have gotten the idea of what this is about and I am not blaming the amount of homework, material, and/or professors-- I'm actually very thankful of it all because it is what is expected of me as an English Major. The work and material that I am given is what equips me to gain the knowledge and understanding of the degree I will be receiving this upcoming Spring. But this year, out of all years, something feels different.

I keep pushing my school work to the last minute trying to finish assignment late into the night. I spend hours trying to read a literary work, which is just about 5-10 pages long (and that's small for English majors) and my writing-- OMG-- don't get me started about the paper writing. I feel like such a FAILURE in writing papers this semester!! But in the midst of all of the work and deadlines, I sometimes forget why I decided to do it in the first place.

So, I think back to where it all began. I think about the moments when I could write and read when I wanted to because I WANTED to-- which was A LOT! The reason WHY I wanted to be an English major. But now, I guess, because I HAVE to read and write there's an expectation of requirements. Sure, this may sound like I'm whining and you may be thinking that if I don't want to read or write, why am I currently writing this blog post... My answer to you is: "because I want to." I hope that doesn't come off as offensive, but I miss having my own requirements.

The opportunity to do something so minuscule, such as writing and reading that brings me so much joy to which I've realized, I haven't been able to do. Writing and reading has currently been associated with the feeling of anxiety and fear because I always think that it's going to be paired with a due date or a certain way in which it's supposed to be written, such as worrying about other aspects of how I'm supposed to write a paper: syntax, structure, argument, and content. Having to read and write constantly for my whole academic career has numbed me. I have forgotten that writing, for me, is a place where I can find freedom in doing whatever I want-- maybe not to the extent of which usage of "there/their/they're" I'm supposed to use (and there is supposed to be a specific one depending on its usage), but the kind of freedom that reminds me of why I started to read and write in the first place.

Freedom in writing is creating a story and not knowing where in the world its going to go. Writing is part of the creative process that has so much color, chaos, and enriching amounts of imagination. It is the kind of joy that the Lord allows us to run freely in without judgement and fear. It's a kind of freedom that I dearly miss. Although I may not achieve anything from writing this, I found myself sitting at my desk with a strong desire to... write.

So, for the sake of my sanity, I hope you enjoyed reading just a glimpse of what I'm going through at the moment and, please, pray for me!

My Junior Year at Simpson University

Friday, August 19, 2016

This post is past overdue as my Senior year of university will be commencing in less than 3 weeks!! So here is a perspective on what I wrote a couple of days after finishing my Junior year of college!

Can you believe it?! I'm finished with my third year at Simpson University! As I reflect and think about this past year, I am so thankful for all that I experienced. God has truly been moving in my life that His love, grace, mercy, and strength were ever present. As I continued with courses, my position as a Resident Assistant, and growing spiritually with God; the people He has blessed me with continue to overwhelm me. Throughout this year, there was a single word that I felt God has worked in my life and that word was friendship and what that meant in my life.

One thing that I integrate in my interaction with people is: "Treat other as you want to be treated." Ever since I could remember, I constantly put myself in other peoples shoes; I would try to imagine and feel every interaction I had with people. If I said one thing or did something, I would ask myself how would they feel? What if I said this? What if I did that? Friendship to me was treating other as you want to be treated that extension of oneself is connected to another. Sure, we could mess up sometimes-- we're not perfect--, but it's what we do after that talk, interaction, or mistake that was made is what that friendship adds up to.

This past school year, that is what I experienced: a revaluation of who were my friends and who were not. Coming from the Bay Area, I take my friends seriously, seriously as in who I tell things to or who I want to spend my time with. If someone were to do something to any of my close friends, I would feel as if they were doing that same wrong to me. For a visual representation, imagine the scene from Miss Congeniality, and Sandra Bullock's character, Hart, who had to answer a Miss United States question to which she had a brief shining moment. I've attached the video of that moment for you.

Bullock's character is me. You mess with my friends, you mess with me to which my "bay area" comes out and I don;t meant to specifically originate this feeling to the Bay Area, but I believe it should be universal. With this definition of friendship, I have been able to think about what it really means to be a friend. With friendship, I have grown with people who have enriched my life and who I have learned from greatly.

This lesson in my life is a great blessing in disguise because God has given me the great opportunity to become close to others who have been effected or experienced this type of obstacle in their life.

Not only has my Junior year been enriched by friendship, but I have also been loving my role as a Resident Assistant. Being an R.A. continues to be a blessing as I continued to grow as a student leader and with the relationships I have with my floor and ultimately with other women that live in my building. By the end of the year, I was given the R.A. of the Year Award, which was a complete surprise and I was so happy and humbled by the award. I could only thank the whole of the Resident Life team, the young women who I've gotten to pour into and get poured into, as well as my Morgan team, Leeza, Natalie, Shania, Brittany, and Lauren!

Last but certainly not least, what comes with being a students is the classes, test, studying, and great amounts of coffee that was consumed during this academic year. This year was the most challenging as I tried to keep up with reading assignments and making sure I used my time wisely. Like every year, I learned so much and the professors who have fostered my way of thinking and believed in my capabilities played a major role in my success.

As I sit here 3 weeks away from the end of my last summer break, I look forward to my last year of my undergraduate career and making even more memories and growing/ continuing my relationships. This past year was showered with blessings, and I go into my Senior year with open arms and a hopeful and excited presence of the Lord!

Thank you so much for reading! I hope the Lord blesses you and keeps you safe! :D

My Mission Trip to Mexico City

Wednesday, June 8, 2016

(Left to right: Tina, Kayla, Me, Daisy, Kim, and Andre.)

After almost two weeks of being home my mind continues to wander back to all that I have experienced in Mexico City! Firstly, I want to thank those, who have supported me in this trip whether that be through prayer or donation! If only I could talk to each of you in person (which I would not mind if you're free!), but I will try my best to fully convey just how much God has taken hold of my heart and has express His heart for Mexico City.

When my dad and I drove to the San Francisco Airport on the morning of the flight, I could not believe that after preparing for months for this trip, which consisted of meetings, events, and fundraisers, it was finally time to go to the place that the five of us talked and dreamt so much about. It was so crazy to me that this was actually happening!

After eight hours (give or take) and running to catch our transfer flight in Guadalajara, we landed safely and were all very tired yet excited for what God had in store for us. We were also surprised that the weather wasn't as humid as we expected-- which is a good thing! The first week of the trip consisted of going to the sites that were part of our ministry, such as loving and sharing the light of Christ with abandoned and abused old folks, an orphanage, as well as teaching classes at the community center. Even though many of us got sick during the trip, that didn't stop us from sharing who Christ was!

One of the greatest blessing and continual thread that I couldn't be more thankful for is the team that God has orchestrated to do His work in Mexico. There were moments-- MANY moments-- we would sit in the Lord's presence by journaling, talking with one anther about our thoughts and feelings, as well as impromptu worship nights-- various ways that allowed each of us to spend time with our Father. This team: Daisy, Kim, Kayla, Tina, Ellie, and Andres has been such a light and influence to me that they have helped me see so much of who God is just by the amount of love and desire for Christ they have. So much so that my initial reaction would be lead me to tears.

Below I have attached a playlist of the songs that Daisy, one of my dearest friends and team member played while we journaled, sat in community, cleaned, and/or prayed to. (Feel welcomed to play these songs as you read the rest of the blogpost! :D)

If you do not know already, this was my first ever mission trip, so with everything that I do, keeping an open mind and trying to experience things for how they are is vital for me to be completely present. This trip was also the first time I would be traveling without my parents to another country-- the farthest I've ever been away from them. Even though I am half Mexican, I am not fluent in Spanish; (although, I feel like I could get by because I know more or less a couple of phrases and words) I still would not be able to survive if it weren't for my team. Throughout the trip they were so willing to trans;ate and let me know what was going on whether we were at family dinners, events, or things that we saw while we walked the streets in Mexico!

As the trip progressed, the thought of wishing I could speak Spanish frequently came to mind. There were times I felt defeated thinking that if I spoke Spanish fluently, I could do so much more, but God proved me wrong!

He has shown me that I can do His work just as I am!

Being fluent in Spanish not did not matter to Him, all he wanted was ME and knowing that Christ wanted me to be a part of His work proves how much He wants a relationship with me-- with ALL of us. He accepts us for ALL that we are. My greatest hope throughout the trip-- throughout my life-- is that God uses me in anyway He sees fit and that I glorify Him in all that I do!

During the second week, I was also given the opportunity to write a blog post for the team, which you can read here. https://simpsonworldserve.wordpress.com/2016/05/19/team-mexico-city-week-2-update/ This opportunity was very exciting and I love writing that I spent a good amount of time on it proof-reading and making sure that I could convey in words what I felt!

During our last week, I started to become aware that some tasks we did during our day would be the last. We also took our last week to write notes to the children at the orphanage and to the old folks at the shelter. While we sat around the table writing and praying over each name that was written on each card, I cried like a baby. My heart turned and cracked for how much I was going to miss all the people I have gotten close to at each ministry site! I cried so much that my eyes were puffy the next morning. It was so hard saying goodbye, knowing that I was going to walk out those doors for the last time never failed to bring tears to my eyes. To think! The amount of love and care I have for these amazing and interesting people, God loves and cares for so much more! A kind of love I can never fathom. As I wrote this blogpost, I wish so much more to tell you about ALL of this in person! God has radically shown me who He is in so ways I never imagined.

As our team debriefed and thought about what we were leaving in Mexico, I'd like to quote one of our team leaders, Andres, about what he felt God was telling him:

"Just because you guys are leaving doesn't mean I'm going to!"

This quote has settled over my heart, knowing that God is going to continue to do His work over Mexico long after we leave! We have all grown deeper in Christ and with each other.

Now that I am home, my greatest prayer is that this experience and getting to witness the way in which God moves does not lose it's fire in my soul! I continue to thank God for this experience and I never stop thinking about those who have supported me in this! Thank you all so so much! Here are a couple of pictures from the trip or you could click the link to my Facebook to look at even more pictures!

Thank you so much for reading and I pray that God blesses you and shows you glimpses of who He is throughout your life!

Music From Their Hearts: 5 Seconds of Summer

Tuesday, January 5, 2016

My youngest sister has done it yet again and has introduced to me another band-- but this is not just "another" band, it's 5 Seconds of Summer a.k.a. 5SOS!!!

If you're not already aware, 5 Seconds of Summer is a pop/rock band from Sydney, Australia! (I KNOW!!!!) The band consists if Michael Clifford (guitar/ vocals), Luke Hemmings (guitar/ vocals), Calum Hood (bass/ vocals), and last but absolutely not least, Ashton Irwin (drums/ vocals). These groups of guys became a band in 2011 posting videos on YouTube. Luke, Micheal, and Calum knew each other from high school and they met Ashton over Facebook and after their first gig, Calum purposed to Ashton to join the band-- true story (link at the end of post). Although, I may have mentioned the instruments that each member of the band plays, they are by far not limited to those instruments; these guys are multi-talented! They each play instruments other than the ones they play in the band and I think that so cool!

Sure, being a One Direction (1D) fan, I feel that I should have known 5SOS a lot sooner because they toured with 1D for two years (2013-14), but in my defense I did not become a fan of 1D until this past summer of 2015. So I sadly didn't get to see 5SOS perform live, but nonetheless, One Direction shouldn't be the main reason of why I should know this band exist. 5 Seconds of Summer have come a long way and have worked really hard. They really try their best to write music that have so much depth that many people can relate to, which I have been guilty of! Since my youngest sister is such a huge fan, she bought their new CD that came out on October 23, 2015, Sounds Good Feels Good, and I can't stop listening to it! I have fallen in love with their music!!

As I think you may have gathered, I have spent the last two weeks of my Christmas break watching YouTube videos of 5 Seconds of Summer and I have not only fallen in love with their music, but for who they are. Their passion for music and how much of an influence it has been in their lives is what they want to do for other people, as well. It is so inspiring that as I've gotten to listen to their music and get to know them (a little) from interviews, 5 Seconds of Summer is band that wants to make a difference in the world and without a doubt have continued to do so, if they know it or not.

I guess what sparked this blog post was a video I saw, which was a segment of 5SOS's live show, The Broken Scene. On October 21, 2015, they performed in Atlanta, Georgia and the drummer, Ashton, was talking to the audience before performing their next song, Jet Black Heart, one of my favorite songs on their new album. Ashton mentioned the music writing process and the kind of music they, as a band, wanted to make. As I was listening to Aston talk, I felt an extension of what they hoped to accomplish. 5 Seconds of summer is not just another band, they are so real and authentic that the music they write is completely and utterly them. Their songs are composed of their own experiences. real emotions, and obstacles that they have gone through, as real music should be. They are more than just a band! More than the teenage girls you hear gawk over them because of how they look or act, which may be true (I also have been guilty of this). 5SOS is a band that wants to mean something and it has always been about the music and fans to them. If I could meet them, I would look them each in the eye and tell them that they have and always will mean something to the people they have made such an impact on.

"I think if we could write music that's from our hearts for you, it doesn't matter if they're worldwide hits that's for sure-- we don't give a damn. As long as they mean something to every single one of you guys, that's all I care about... I want this band to mean something to you, instead of some pointless sh** on the radio. We want to mean something to you!" -Ashton Irwin

Thank you so much for reading!! I love these guys, so I've added the links to which you can check out their music and social media!! Just click on the colored text! I hope your new year has gone off to a great start!

Obligatory 2015 Reflection Post

Friday, January 1, 2016

Now it may seem really cliche of me to write a blog post reflecting on 2015, but I can't help it! This year has been so good to me in so many ways! I have grown so much in finding out who I am and really letting God take over my life. As I reflect back on the what I have done, I know I want to work so much more harder. My school and social life seem to dominate how I've spent my year and it has been beautiful: the good and the bad-- especially the good.

A couple of weeks before the new year was approaching, I began reminiscing and reflection about what I did this past year and how I've change as an individual. On first impulse I felt that 2015 was a place holder; a year that only contained time and nothing significant had happened, which is not the case because I started thinking about the people I grew with this year. In the book of Genesis, there is only one time, God says "it is not good" and that is when he sees that Adam is alone, to which He makes Eve. This not only proves that are we meant for relationship with each other, but a relationship with Him. Growth in relationship has been such a significant contribution to how I've been able to live life that I hope and pray that continues to grow.

I fully believe the Lord puts me in certain situations so that I may learn from them, which has allowed me to see various aspects of how to deal with things and I cannot begin to describe the support I had in that. My friends and family continue to be my foundation of who I am and why I'm still sane (well, maybe not completely sane), but I have walked with a handful of very close friends, who have helped me to discern and pray about certain situations that have risen in my life and I am forever thankful.

Not only have I grown, but I have also accomplished some really cool things, I finished my first semester of my Junior year in college and I am now going in my second semester as a Junior (in the Spring of 2016). The workload this past semester has been crazy and I cannot have done it with the constant support of my friends, to which I was able to do two all-nighters-- the first two of my college career. Before the Fall semester of my Junior year started, I saw my younger sister, who is a Marine, graduate in South Carolina from boot camp! I took summer classes in San Francisco, became a fan of One Directionand went to see them in concert (to which I've left a link for you to read)!! I find myself in constant disbelief of the amount grace that the Lord has blessed me with.

I look back at 2015, and I look to 2016 with new hope and a life constantly lived with the presence of God. I take with me all that I've experienced and embrace many more lessons, adventures, memories, difficulties, and friendships!

I look at 2015 as if I were departing with a homie (nodding to each other with respect). Sure, I could have started a new goal/New Year Resolution for myself and start it the next day before the new year, but I think the New Year means so much more. The New Year allows for new beginnings and a fresh outlook, 2016 calls for so many new things! Just recently, I've become a 5 Seconds to Summer (5SOS) fan-- thanks to my youngest sister, again-- not that it was a bad thing, I really like 5SOS and they're really talented guys! But along with the new interests, I also have set goals for myself-- rather than new year resolutions, I've decided to call then goals-- that I am very keen on sticking with! I look forward to what 2016 brings and I depart from 2015 as equals.

Happy New Year and here's to new beginnings!
Thank you for reading!

Decisions Made in August: A Short Story

Sunday, December 20, 2015

The crowd of people started moving in the direction of the park exit. A woman that wore a tight fitted hot pink sweater made her pregnant stomach look as if it were going to pop. She drew a long breath of her cigarette, the smoke caressing her face as it began to vanish into the air above her. The dark circles under her eyes made the bags seem as if they forgot where they should have been and her gaze was on constant alert. Her hands were pale and fingers skinny and long as she held the only light that seemed to radiate in her life between her fingers.
We talked through the now muddy and trampled field. The sky was beginning to grow dark as the Pacific winds and fog made their presence known. The music festival now over, I can still feel the excitement and adrenaline that filled the atmosphere. The music filling into the crowd moving in unison. I have never been out so late that it made me think of what happened to my brother, Alex. He waited for the Metro Train in front of AT&T Park that he didn’t see what was coming up from behind him, robbed of his wallet and phone. I was afraid that I might meet the same fate.
Fear struck my chest, but I was suddenly comforted as I held tighter to Michael’s arm, strong and firm, one of my closest friends since elementary. After graduating high school, celebrating at a free concert was a spontaneous decision. I tried to synchronize our strides keeping Michael close to my side, seeking any warmth that could keep my chattering teeth and exposed legs from shaking. As the sun continued its descent, getting to the car was my first priority that the icy winds brushed through us. I knew wearing shorts was a bad idea. As if Michael knew what I was thinking he spoke.
“I told you not to wear shorts,” he said shaking his head in a tone that wasn’t authoritative, but full of concern. “I can feel you shaking,” his eyebrows furrowed together that it made me think that if he could, he’d make the sun stay out longer just to keep me warm. He grabs both my hands in his, freeing any warmth I tried so hard to keep between our bodies, “You’re hands are freezing!” he says rubbing his hands with mine stopping us from progressing our walk. Suddenly flushed by his touch, I laugh at him, shaking my head. I keep looking straight, knowing from the corner of my eye that he was looking at me with a face I knew too well as I continued our walk.
“Yeah, yeah, yeah,” I said, annoyed as I waved his comment away freeing my hands from his grasp, retreating both my hands to his arm rebuilding the warmth I worked so hard for. “I guess I should know by now that it’s always jean weather,” I said while making an attempt to gesture quotation marks in the air, but instead of using my hands, I used both my elbows instead.
“What was that?” Michael said laughing and pointing at my elbows.
“I was trying to-- nevermind,” I said as Michael puts both his hands back into his jean pockets laughing at me even more. “But at least I brought a sweater with me.” I said with a smile-- I hope it was a smile because by this point I couldn’t feel my cheeks. I looked up at him meeting his dark brown eyes. Something in my chest jolted, afraid that he might see I looked away shaking the feeling off.
“You brought my sweater.” Michael replied.
“And it’s a good thing you kept it in your car.” I said reaching up to give him a kiss on the cheek, the side of his facial hair scratching against my lips.
I could see small smile form as we continue walking. The wind rushed across the emptying field carrying napkins away from the piles of take out boxes and cups that covered the ground next to the overflowing trash can. I looked up to steal a glance at Michael and as he breathed out, a visible cloud escaped his nose. This reminded me of when we were kids that if the air was cool enough to see our breaths, we’d pretend that we were smoking, a habit that now older, I had no interest in trying.
Before he could notice, I quickly turned my gaze onto the path in front of us. I tried to recall the moment when my feelings for him started. Maybe it was last spring when our Senior year was about to end. Maybe it was the way he smiled when he talked to other girls and I wanted to be the one that made him laugh. I shake off my thoughts. I don’t know what I’m more scared of: our safety or the possibility that I might lose a friend-- a very close and important one. Unsure if I should even address my feelings to him, worry and stress take hold that it makes me want to forget about it completely. I try to convince myself that my feelings are just a phase that I’m sure will go away-- at least I hope it will.
The air that once was filled with music that shook lungs is now filled with muffled voices and the clatter of beer bottles as a man dressed in dirty clothing rummages through the dumpster.
My tender feet comforted by the softness of the dirt ground was now greeted by the hard cement of the park sidewalk. The balls of my feet pulsed with each step. I looked down knowing that for the next couple of days my feet would be swollen. Although I wished I wore more comfortable shoes the long hours of standing was worth the pain.
We finally made it to his car, a black 1984 GMC Caballero. I walk towards the passenger seat. finding the door handle, cold and wet from the light sprinkle of rain. As soon as I heard the car door unlock, I open it, hoping that some of the sun’s warmth was still locked inside. I first put my leg in and let gravity do the rest. To my relief the corduroy seats were warm and soft, which quickly brought heat and comfort to my entire body. Grateful of the warmth, I cupped my hands together breathing into them only to be reminded minutes before of Michael’s hands covering mine, I quickly let the thought go.
“Good thing we didn’t park in the shade,” Michael said also aware of the warmth his car stored.
“Yeah” I say with relief as a smile forms. Michael puts his keys into the ignition and the engine rumbles a familiar song as it vibrates throughout the car, a powerful hum. Then turning the heat on as high as it can go, Michael puts his hands in front of the vents, flexing his fingers in the process.
Reminded of an acceptance letter that I got from Western Washington University earlier that day makes me worry that this might be the last time I’ll be riding in his car for the next 8 months, something I have yet to tell Michael. I take in every detail of his car. My fingertips graze the soft bristles of the corduroy seats. The smell of rain and pine, and the littered pine needles that decorate the car floor. Then I take in Michael, the way his hands find the the radio dial, naturally and easily. The way he puts his right hand on top of the steering wheel and with the other finding its place on the arm rest. The way he turns to look at me and flashes a smile brings me home. Then something stirs in me, wanting so badly to tell him. Only finding the courage to speak lodged in my throat, still unsure if I want to tell him. Knowing that WWU was exactly 909 miles away, I close my eyes hoping to pacify my mental battle. Before I realize what I’m doing, words escape my mouth.
“Michael, I have to tell you something,” I said. At the sound of his name he turns to look at me with a smile and his eyebrows raised. Not knowing what I should tell him first my mouth takes control.

One Direction: On the Road Again Tour 2015

Thursday, July 16, 2015

On Saturday, I was blessed with the opportunity of attending One Direction's On the Road Again Tour in Santa Clara and I must say that I am still processing what just happened this past weekend! Although I essentially went to the concert by myself, I met so many people along the way! Not only was seeing One Direction so mind blowing, the journey that took me to get there was just as amazing!

After some complications of how I was going to get to the Stadium. I knew I wanted to drive down to San Jose early because I didn't want to deal with the traffic: both the cars and the amount of people that were going to be there. So I left my house at 1:00p.m. and started the hour drive it took to get to San Jose. I also used my Google Maps so that I wouldn't get lost, but I had no end point because I didn't want to pay for Stadium parking and I had no idea where I was going to park my car. I then decided to get Quickly's which was about 5 minutes from the Great Mall and 18 minutes away from the Stadium. After putting in the end location the adventure began!

An hour that consisted of moderate traffic and 14 One Direction songs later, I finally made it to Quickly's! After buying my drink, I had to debrief myself about what I was going to do, so I took to Twitter. I found a couple people who were also going to the Stadium and were willing to carpool, but someone mentioned the Light Rail. So using my handy-dandy Google Maps, I found directions to Levi Stadium from the Great Mall and the directions were perfect!

It was 3:00pm and I knew that I wanted to eat before heading to the concert, so I went to the Great Mall and ate McD's and used the bathroom. Since my cousins live about two blocks away from the Great Mall, I decided to park my car in front of their house and walk to the light rail. Due to the fact that it was my first time ever using public transportation in San Jose, I was not against trying to make friends who might be also going to the stadium. When I got to the main platform, I made friends with a girl, Sarah, and her mom, Melissa. They were both so nice and very willing to team up to get to the concert because we were all not from are. Within a couple of minutes, more One Direction fans came to the platform and as a team, we all made our way to Levi Stadium! During this train ride, I got to meet so many more One Direction fans and everyone was so nice, but I felt that Sarah and her mom were the ones that took me under their wing! During this voyage, Sarah and I were talking about 1D and throughout the conversation we laughed so much! It was beautiful!

When we got to the Stadium at around 4:30ish, there were so many people! As we walked to get in line, some of the workers said that I had to check in my bag because it was too big. Since the Bag Check line was so long, I told Sarah and her mom that I would meet them in the stadium. They both agreed and said that they'd see my later :) The line for the bag check wasn't so bad until girls started screaming! My initial reaction was fear! I quickly tried to figure out what the commotion was about so that I could run away from what they were screaming at (if I had to) and everyone was pointing up at the stadium. I looked and there were several silhouettes, standing by the ledge and many of the girls assumed they were some of the One Direction band members. Now, during this momentary distraction, some of the girls behind me thought it was a good idea to cut me because there was a significant gap in front of me. *Shakes head out of frustration* I wanted to say something "smart" like, "Thank you for cutting me in line," or "That's very nice of you!" But instead, I shortened the gap, waited for about 10 seconds to see if they'd let me through, but NONE of them looked at me. Now this experience did not  at all make me think less of Directioners, so in order to get my spot back in line, I merely said, "Excuse me, just trying to get my spot back," with a smile. Since I was standing in line for about 10 minutes already, I knew who I was standing behind and I succeeded in getting the spot back! :D

The line continued to move and I got a text from Sarah, my new friend I met at the train station, and she said that after I got out of the bag check line, I could join them in line to get into the stadium, which was incredibly nice of them! I finally got out of line and went to find Sarah and her mom! It was such a blessing to get in line with them because the line was about a 3/4 of a mile long and they were about less than 1/4 of a mile in line! By this time it was about 5:50pm and they started to let people into the stadium!!

After we got through security and getting our tickets scanned, some of the workers were directing people to the proper "bridges" in order for people to get to their seats easier. Since, I had different seats than Sarah and her mom, our "bridges" were in opposite directions. We realized that we had to split up, so we decided to meet up after the concert so that I wouldn't have to go back to the Great Mall alone.

So, I made my way to my seat! Throughout the rest of the night, I made EVEN more friends and updating my Snap Chat story, and tried to make my phone battery last.

I have never been to a One Direction concert before and I had no idea what kind of fan I was going to be. By "what kind of fan" I mean, the reaction I'd have when they finally took the stage. I wondered if I'd cry, scream my head off, or be really chill and rock to their music. (HA! I have no idea why I thought I'd be "chill"-- AT A ONE DIRECTION CONCERT!) I did scream my head off and I DID rock to their music, but I wasn't at all chill about it and crying wasn't an initial reaction either.

Throughout the show, some of the boys would talk, joked around, and continually would thank the fans after performing several songs. Knowing how much they really cared for their fans made me realize just how aware they are of why they are able to do what they're doing now. This also makes me think of that moment (TANGENT: Just thought of that short film One Direction did to promote their perfume "Our Moment" in 2012) in their X Factor journey when they were told that they would not advance in the competition. I feel that that moment played such a great role in how much more precious and greater being able to travel the world and sing is! But we have to thank Simon for making One Direction. I think a lot of that moment when the five of them were called out by name and made into a group. I really believe that is one of the greatest events in music history (taking into account all that happened now). I re-watched the two hour video sometimes and my heart jumps when their names are called out from the group guys that weren't advancing!

With Zayn no longer in One Direction, the guys did such a great job filling in. I also noticed that Liam did a lot of Zayn's high notes and I have to say, Liam was AMAZING!! I legit got the chills when he did the high notes for the The Best Song Ever!

When the concert ended I went straight to the merch table and I also caught up with Andre, who also attends Simpson University with me! After a good 40 minutes of being sardines, I finally got a shirt and made my way to get my bag from bag-check. Since the light rail was out of service, two employees were

The night ended with meeting two girls, who were also taking the bus, Lauren and Kelly! They were BOTH so nice and genuine! We talked about the concert, the personalities of more or less each band member and information about ourselves. I really hope I bump into them again! :D
One Direction has THE BEST FANS!!

Overall, being at Levi Stadium was amazing! The vibe was so unifying that being with other "Directioners" was an experience I will never forget.
The whole experience was truly a blessing!

This was a long blog post! Thank you so much for reading!! Below are some videos
 I took from the concert!

One Direction Introduction to the Stage

Niall and Louis

One Direction

Tuesday, June 23, 2015

(Left to Right: Niall, Louis, Zayn, Liam, and Harry)

I would believe that everyone is familiar with the very well-known, very talented, and might I add, very attractive Boy band, One Direction!! As of June 22, 2015, I have become a fan of One Direction (1D), which I begin to wonder where have I been all this time #ImRealLateToThisFandom! After watching their music video, Night Changes, which I've attached to the end this blog post, their music is all I want to listen to! And with all my heart, I ask that you watch that video!! And when you do, I ask that you completely go in with a blank page. By "blank page" I mean that with every preconceived notion you've had of One Direction (unless you're already a fan), I ask that you get rid of it completely, that you fully commit to watching the video and let it take hold. Trust me, it's well worth watching!

Now, if you are indifferent of One Direction, please continue reading as I hope you, too might consider more or less what you're missing out on-- what I was missing out on! Or you may be the complete opposite and can absolutely sympathize with the One Direction Hype/ fandom and for that I'll give you a ciber high-five!

If you don't know already, I am on my summer vacation, and since it's already late June, my little sister, Cristina, who is 14 years old, is also on her summer vacation and the person I have to thank for introducing me to the World of One Direction! During the summer, we've unfortunately been spending a lot of time together, such as recommending each other books, making each other laugh, annoying one another, watching the same movies, and ultimately listening to the same music. And THAT it where it started!! Listening to the same music! Not only would she listen to One Direction, but 5 Seconds of Summer and Little Mix, both of which I've also enjoyed listening to.

But as she kept listening to One Direction, the more I've enjoyed listening to them also! It then became conscious to me of my new fangirl obsession when I notice that my little sister was watching a video on her laptop and I decide to watch it with her. I then notice that it was a music video for one of the songs by One Direction. I continue to watch and by the end of it, I had a huge smile on my face. It was the music video to Nigh Changes! It was after watching that video that I HAD to see them in concert!!

This past weekend, Alice Radio (97.3 FM) announced that they are giving free tickets to see One Direction at Levi Stadium in Santa Clara!! My ears were glued to the radio and my thumb was ready to press send to call in to win those tickets! Sadly, I didn't win, so I checked online to see how much they were and they're a bit pricey, but I did find a good price, the cheapest being about $47 each! Although $47 may seem like a great price considering that it's One Direction, I currently don't have a job and my parents work so hard already. So for now, I don't mind listening to their CD on blast and going crazy knowing they'll be ONLY 51.4 miles away!

Overall, from watching the countless interviews, video diaries, and music videos, I genuinely believe that they're a group of really cool, hilarious, and chilled guys. Knowing and seeing that they take their home/roots seriously it remains such a foundation to how they live their lives, which will continue to make me respect them. I should also add, that there are videos of them where it seems that they can do anything they want, which may seem kind of rude and obnoxious that its a wonder how they get anything done but nonetheless, One Direction really cares for what they do and seem to really enjoy it!  Now, I hope you spread your wings as you, too, will fly into the world of 1D! #YourWelcome

Night Changes

I ABSOLUTELY love this video, my the end of it, I realized I was holding my breath!! I also thought it was so cool how they had the dates toward the end to mess up because it showed that these guys aren't perfect! And can I just gush at two scenes?!? (1) The "date" with Niall, I have to say was my favorite one! A nice date in, next to a fire AND playing Monopoly?! #YAAASSSS (2) The part where Harry sees a couple spinning on the ice and mouths, "We can do that" had me laughing so hard!! That was another one of my favorite scenes that I kept rewinding the video back to 2:59, it was hilarious!! :D

BookTube

Saturday, June 6, 2015

If you aren't familiar with the world of "BookTube", it's basically a part of YouTube, but this corner of YouTube primarily involves the discussion and love for books! Ever since having started my Reading Bucket List, which I wrote a blog about that you are welcome to read later, I have been watching more of these, as they're called, "BookTubers." Watching the videos of these BookTubers, I have very much enjoyed learning about new books that are published as well as share the love, excitement, and joy for books! Although, watching these videos have made me want to go out to buy these said books, I have been able to stay on track with my Reading Bucket List, but may have probably sort of have gone out to buy those said books! I have the complete intention to read all of them, of course, but that just adds to my TBR pile, which brings to mind another aspect of BookTube.

BookTube is a culture all its own! As I continued to watch more videos of the BookTube world, I have learned words and phrases such as TBR (To Be Read), Book Haul(s), Book Unboxings, Goodreads, Book Tags, unhauls, etc. The list goes on. As much as I love sharing my love for books, watching these videos have also made me want to stop everything and just read so that I can buy even more books... I really need to get a job, just so that I can use that money to buy those books. But I thought, not only should I make a blogpost about BookTube and it's culture, but extend the world of BookTube with you!

Here are some of the BookTubers that I regularly watch! I hope and wish you the best as you try to restrain from  going to the nearest bookstore after watching these videos, unless your heart so desires! You're Welcome! Thank you for reading! :D

Summer Nostalgia: People

Tuesday, May 26, 2015

My Sophomore and Senior yearbooks!

As some of you may know, I'm currently on my summer vacation and as the month of May comes to a close, June is around the corner and during this time of the year it has become pretty nostalgic for me. A couple of weeks ago, I visited my old high school and I got to see some of my old teachers and a couple of my friends who are seniors now that I've missed a lot, and just thinking that around this time TWO YEARS ago-- I can't believe it's already been two years-- since I've graduated high school! That sounds so weird! I've always been used to saying, "I graduated last year"; "Last year, I did this..." or "Last year I did that.." I was so used to saying "last year," but now it's TWO years since its happened.

Although, I don't miss the "high school" part of high school, I do miss the people. A little over a week ago, I got to hang out with one of my homies, which was so much fun! He's a senior in high school and I'm so excited for what he has planned for the future-- what he's doing now! While we hung out, he asked me about the kind of things we (my friends and I) do for fun, while in Redding at Simpson. I mentioned the dollar theater, Castle Crags, hiking, the lake, on-campus events, and Dutch Bos.-- all of which are pretty legitimate events and places to go to. But let's face it, Redding is a pretty small city and there really isn't much to do-- I apologize completely to the city of Redding and those that live there, I hope that statement does not offend you. But as I continued to think about the kind of things there are to do for fun, I probably made Simpson sound a lot more boring than it actually is, but now that I think about it, I didn't mention the people that makes Simpson fun! Throughout the academic year while at Redding, I continue to laugh uncontrollably, grow and live with such amazing, authentic, and crazy funny individuals that without them, Simpson would not have been as great as it is.

That is where its been nostalgic. People. It's the people I went to high school with, graduated with, and shared memories with that, thinking of it now, haven't really talk to since my high school graduation. When I visited my old high school two weeks ago,I realized that after this class graduates (the Class of 2015) I will more or less know no one who attends El Cerrito High School. Well, besides my sister, who will be attending E.C. this upcoming fall, but that's besides the point. Due to graduation for the Class of 2015, I decided to look at my old year books. I reread my friends signatures and the paragraph/ page long entries about our time together and to tell you the truth, I laughed and almost cried. Trust me, I do not miss high school AT ALL, but I really miss the people I've gotten to know, all who I most likely will text/ call very soon! I should also admit, I probably wouldn't want to see the majority of the people I went to high school with just because it was high school. It's the people I've spent so much time with whether it were during class or on the softball field that I really miss hanging out with.

As I traced the hand writings of all of these people that I've spent 4, 3, or 2 years of my life with that signed my yearbook, I know without a doubt that we've all changed. I know I've changed that as I grow and become more of who I want to be, who God has created me to be, I want the people that I've become friends with to be a part of that. I know there still is social media, such as Facebook, Instagram, and Snapchat, and all that good jazz, but there's nothing like spending physical/ legit face-to-face time with someone and becoming closer in language. What I mean by "becoming closer in language," (it's something I learned in Philosophy) which means "communication." In other words, the only way we tend to get to know people and grow in friendship is through communicating: language. It's talking and listening that I feel has established friendships and stronger bonds between people, two foundation social interactions that have been eminent factors in my personal friendships: Time. Spending time with people. I guess you could say time is one of my love languages because, now having spent two years in college, time is important and continual. Knowing that someone wants to spend time with me means a lot. Knowing that as precious as time is, they want to spend it with me.

It blows my mind to realize how important relationship is. It's really cool to think that in Genesis 2:18, the Lord says, "It is not good for the man to be alone," which I have interpreted as, we (us, you, me, people) were made for relationship! Correct me if I'm wrong, but God does not say "It is NOT good," again throughout the creation account besides having seen Adam needing a companion. I feel that this is not limited to JUST a significant other, but with family members, friends, and acquaintances. It's meeting new people and growing in relationship that I feel closest with God. To learn and love his people that I may pursue and love as He does. So, not only will I be reading and running this summer, but also pursuing relationship!

Thank you so much for reading! You the real MVP!
I hope you have a great day!

Summer Reading Bucket List

Wednesday, May 6, 2015

This Summer, one of the many things I want to do is read as many books as I can! Before I went crazy, I knew I wanted to start with a goal! With the month of May JUST starting, I've set a goal of 10 books in 4 months! It may sound cray, but I've heard people read at least 3-6 books a MONTH (#BookTube) and I am determined! Despite that comparison, I know I can do it! Before starting this goal, I came face to face with a hard decision of picking a book to read first, which took as as much time I could spare (very little time). So I did the most strategic way to pick my first book to read: Eeny, meeny, miney, moe. And as fate picked it, I landed on Everything Is Illuminated by Johnathan Safran Foer. The following list is the result of continuing with that Eeny, meeny, miney, moe strategy!

*Summer Reading Bucket List
1. Everything Is Illuminated by Johnathan Safran Foer
2. The Martian by Andy Weir
3. Robopocalypse: A Novel by Daniel H. Wilson
4. The Catcher in the Rye by J. D. Salinger
5. The Maze Runner by James Dashner
6. The Art of Hearing Heartbeats by Jan-Philipp Sendker
7. Fangirl by Rainbow Rowell
8. The Giver by Lois Lowry
9. If I Stay by Gayle Forman
10. The Night Circus by Erin Morgenstrern

Although I am very determined to finish this list before I head back to Simpson, I also want to make sure that I have fun with this list! The last thing I want to happen is reading becoming a hassle, but looking at this list now, I have noticed that this list has such a wide variety of genres. From contemporaries to apocalyptic fiction and YA Fiction to realistic fiction. I am so excited to start this Summer Reading Bucket List ASAP!! Wish me luck!

Thank you for reading!!
